Anxiety
Anxiety is on the rise largely due to our fast-paced, modern lives. It manifests on a spectrum from chronic, low-grade nervousness to debilitating fears, racing hearts and minds, dizziness, and physiological panic. Anxiety is best treated with the wisdom of ayurveda, which resources clients with tools like breathing, meditation and lifestyle modifications that strengthen the constitution and bring us into deeper connection with the mind’s healthy expression, eventually curing anxiety for good.
Depression
Depression is a wily beast that moves in cycles, rarely fully relinquishing its momentous control. It creates untrue stories that are difficult to pierce, leaving us helpless and hopeless in our ability to persist and overcome. Yoga Psychotherapy believes that there are several mind/body origins for depression that require different treatment strategies, and works with every client to find their unique way through.
Disordered Eating
The psychology of food and eating is a complicated topic, since we can’t just abstain from food when it becomes an unruly part of our lives. Food is the most accessible (and seemingly benign) thing to reach for when we seek comfort and control, yet it can rewire the brain just as powerfully as any other addiction. Yoga Psychotherapy offers an excellent approach to treatment by combining the healing and dietary wisdom of Ayurveda with modern psychotherapy and addiction treatment.
#MeToo and Women's Empowerment
As women, we are finally awakening to the harmful level of inequality forced upon us by a patriarchal society. Toxic male perspectives and behaviors that were once thought of as “normal”, are coming to be understood as a spectrum of mistreatment and abuse. In order to heal and claim our greatest power, it is imperative for women to go back into our histories to name, digest and stand up against these injustices (a process that many of us have courageously initiated during the #metoo movement). Yoga Psychotherapy is deeply passionate about assisting women in this crusade, as well as resourcing girls and young women with tools to ensure that they forge a better path forward; one that insists upon their true worth.
Psychedelic Integration
Sacred medicines can offer an expedient route into the psyche, as well as experiences of ego-dissolution and oneness. We work with those who independently and respectfully utilize psychedelics and other psychoactive substances (LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, ketamine, DMT, etc.) to assist them with the assimilation of their journeys into their baseline of consciousness. This can support the healing of past trauma, relief from anxiety and depression, and the cessation of unhealthy compulsions, while also revealing one’s highest potential and the path to its attainment. Since these medicines can often induce a disorienting and overwhelming experience, taking time for integration is imperative to their efficacy in psychospiritual progress.
Trauma/PTSD
Traumatic experiences annihilate trust with our selves and the world around us, and can lead to reoccurring symptoms of anxiety, rage, dissociation, isolation and more. Yoga Psychotherapy assists trauma survivors in digesting their negative experiences and repatterining the affected parts of their brain with breathing, relaxation practices and other somatic approaches that reestablish one’s sense of safety and empowerment. Yoga Psychotherapy also considers the heart and the spiritual self to achieve the most holistic level of healing possible.
